Here are the side by side before & after pictures of our kitchen remodel! It is crazy to look back at these and try to remember what it was like. Big changes!
Before
Before our kitchen just did not make any sense. There was practically no counter space and all of our appliances were free floating. It was not an enjoyable place to be.
Now, we have our dream kitchen that works for us. The layout was huge on our list and I dreamed of miles of counter space to use. We knew that changing the layout would require an entire overhaul but we wanted to utilize the space to the fullest (and actually enjoying hosting) so that is what we did!

We ended up removing a window and we don't miss it one bit! Sometimes you have to remove seemingly good things to get even better things. Closing in the window allowed us to built in one major piece that was severely missing, our pantry. Before, our pantry consisted of the two far left upper cabinets which was not enough space. Now we have an entire side of the pantry that is left pretty much empty (growing room is not a bad thing to have!).

Yuck... One of my least favorite things about the kitchen when we first moved in was that the appliances weren't built in. It still makes no sense to me. It greatly reduced the function of the kitchen and left us with hardly any prep space (my other biggest pet peeve from the kitchen). moving them and building them in was the only logical choice for the layout and open concept we wanted! A no brainer.

Opening up the wall was the best decision we could have made for the space. People naturally gravitate towards the kitchen in any home so having a place for guests to sit while we cook was something I really wanted.
Even after trying a million layouts on Ikea's kitchen planner tool, I was not certain about our peninsula choice. Now, I am so glad we went with this layout because it is now one of the most used spots in our home.

Well, now the kitchen is done. Crazy. But we are not sad to wrap this up and move on to the next project. Stay tuned!
